- Động từ chỉ giác quan (verb of perception) là động từ chỉ sự nhận thức của con người về sự vật bằng giác quan như nghe, nhìn, ngửi, nếm, …

- Động từ theo sau các động từ chỉ giác quan có thể là V (bare) hoặc V-ing.

- Các động từ chỉ giác quan trong tiếng anh bao gồm: see, notice, hear, watch, look at, observe, listen to, feel, smell.

2. Cách dùng:

- Verbs of perception + V(bare): diễn tả hành động đã hoàn tất, người nói chứng kiến toàn bộ quá trình xảy ra hành động đó.

• Ví dụ: I heard a famous singer sing at the concert last night.
  (Tôi nghe một ca sỹ nổi tiếng hát trong buổi biểu diễn tối qua)
  → Hành động nghe ca sỹ hát đã diễn ra và kết thúc hôm qua.

- Verbs of perception + V-ing: chỉ hành động đang diễn ra, người nói chỉ chứng kiến được một phần quá trình hành động đó đó.

• Ví dụ: When I walked into the department, I heard someone singing in the bathroom.
  (Khi tôi đi vào căn hộ, tôi nghe ai đó đang hát trong phòng tắm)
  → Hành động 'ai đó đang hát' diễn ra ngay tại thời điểm mà người nói chứng kiến.

- Động từ chỉ giác quan ở thể bị động:

See/ hear/ notice + V-ing → be seen/ be heard/ be noticed + V-ing


See/ hear/ notice + V(bare) → be seen/ be heard/ be noticed + to V

Ví dụ:

• A famous singer was heard to sing in the concert last night.
  (Người ta nghe một ca sỹ nổi tiếng hát trong buổi biểu diễn tối qua)

• When I got home, something was smelt burning.
  (Khi tôi về nhà, tôi ngửi thấy có thứ gì đó đang bốc cháy)
